Through the course of this semester I have learned how to use WordPress (I’m no expert but I have fumbled my way through it and have come out with a decent looking site in the end
https://kimais3070.com/ ). I have also learned to give some context to the terms that I feel many of us know intrinsically but aren’t able to put into words. The terms include Audience, Genre, Purpose, Knowledge and Reflection (to name a few). The Glossary of all terms is located here
https://kimais3070.com/glossary/ . Throughout the semester we took these key terms and explored them at a deeper level, writing posts based on our reading and understanding of the terms being referenced, you can find the post exploring all the key terms referenced in the Glossary here https://kimais3070.com/blog-posts/ . For some of these key terms we explored them on a couple of different levels. For example, for Rhetorical Situation we explored at a high level (Post titled Rhetorical Situation) and then we provided an analysis of two examples of items we have written and their own rhetorical situation (Post titled Personal Rhetorical Situation Analysis), this helped give context to us and our audience on rhetorical situation.
When you look at my Personalized Learning Plan https://kimais3070.com/personalized-learning-plan-plp/ you can see how I have taken these concepts and demonstrated my ability to understand them in all of my writings. For example, the different examples of Meeting Notes change and adjust based on my audience. You can see examples where I am more technical versus high level. In my Professional Emails you will notice how they adjust based on purpose and my knowledge of what I am writing. In the Procedure (How to Key a Chargeoff) you can see that I am very detailed so that no matter the user they can follow the steps outlined. Finally the Business Requirements showcase my ability to connect with IT and Product owners. These examples showcase my ability to adjust my writing based on genre, audience, knowledge, purpose and situation.
I will continue to adapt these skills throughout my career. From the time I have started working as a business analyst 4 years ago until now my skills have only grown and improved and with the additional context I can add from this course, I believe that will only give my skills and knowledge that much more fuel to grow.
